What Real Estate Agents Need to Know about Marketing

The Empowered Agent Podcast with Tristen Campanella Episode

For real estate agents, the challenge of marketing is twofold. On one hand, you need to be visible and attract clients. On the other, you need to do this without breaking the bank. Fortunately, with a few smart strategies and some creative thinking, it is possible to market your business without spending a fortune.

Where to Market?

The most important thing when it comes to marketing in real estate is knowing where to focus your energy. The fact is that not all marketing efforts are created equal—some will yield better results than others depending on your specific industry and target audience. For example, if you’re targeting millennials, then social media channels like Instagram and Facebook may be your best bet. Or if you’re targeting empty nesters looking for retirement homes, then print ads in targeted publications may be more effective. Wherever you decide to focus your energy, make sure that it’s targeted towards people who are likely interested in buying or selling property in your area so that you can get the best return on investment for your time and money.

How to Market?

Once you know where you should be focusing your marketing efforts, then it’s time to decide how best to reach those potential customers. There are many different approaches—from email campaigns and direct mailers to radio spots and TV commercials—but regardless of which method(s) you choose, there are certain elements that every successful campaign should have in common. It should have an engaging message that resonates with its intended audience; visuals or graphics that make it stand out; a call-to-action that motivates people to take action; and tracking capabilities so that you can measure the success of your efforts over time.

To be honest it’s really going to end up being what you like to do, and if you have money to spend on marketing.  For me, every sale I make 20% goes back into marketing.  But when i was new I had to rely on my sweat equity to market my real estate business.

Should You Spend Money?

When it comes to marketing in real estate, spending money isn’t always necessary—but it can certainly help boost your visibility and reach a larger audience more quickly than relying solely on organic methods like networking or word-of-mouth referrals. That said, before investing any money into paid advertising or digital campaigns make sure that you understand what type of return on investment (ROI) these efforts will generate so that you don’t overspend or waste resources unnecessarily.

Some of the ways you can market without spending a lot for your real estate business.

  1. Facebook and ig ads to your sphere
  2. Google display ads
  3. Door knocking
  4. Geo calls
  5. Open houses with door knocking
  6. Networking and coffees

Marketing in real estate doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated—but it does require a solid strategy based on understanding who your target audience is and where they spend their time online (or offline). By taking the time up front to research these questions thoroughly and create a plan accordingly, real estate agents can maximize their impact while minimizing their costs in order to ensure maximum success for their business in the long run!
